Distrito | Juan Garces strikes again!
I fell in love with Juan Garces after eating at Amada and eagerly await the opening of each of his new restaurants. At Distrito, Garces presents his take on modern Mexican tapas. The decor is a little funky – while the VW Bug convertible is cool, the fact that some chairs are actually swings and the constant replay of ‘Nacho Libre’ in the background got a bit distracting. Luckily, the exquisite food makes you forget about the decor. I was hooked from the beginning, starting off with the fresh guacamole with cotija cheese and fresh lump crab. The bold flavors of the shrimp ceviche with avocado and plantain made it my favorite appetizer/small plate. The Enchiladas de Pollo and District Chicken are excellent. While I usually order dessert, the ones at Distrito aren’t my favorite, so I usually fill myself up on the tasty savory dishes. Map it!
