Located in Jamaica Plains, Harvard's Arnold Arboretum is a pleasant getaway from the hustle and bustle of Boston. For those without a car, e.g. myself, getting to the arboretum involves about an hour commute on the T, but the idyllic spot is worth the trek.
The arboretum covers over 280 acres of plants, and was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who also played a hand in the design of Central Park, Stanford, Yale, and other landmarks. Check out the arboretum's website for details on how to get there. For more photos, go here.
